HVAC Replacement FAQ

Homeowners face tough decisions when their HVAC system starts showing signs of needing to be replaced. We’ve compiled a list of five frequently asked questions to help you understand the process and the choices you may be faced with.

Q: What is HVAC?

HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. When using this term, the entire heating and cooling system is typically being referenced, which includes indoor and outdoor units, air filters, ductwork, registers, and controls.

Q: When Should I Replace My HVAC System?

There are several things that can factor into whether you should repair vs replace your system. If the repair will cost more than half of a new system, if your energy bills keep increasing, or if you notice more dust in your home, a North East certified technician can perform a comprehensive analysis of your HVAC unit to determine if your system is ready to be replaced. Q: What Size HVAC Unit Should I Get?

Duplicating the size and capacity of your existing HVAC unit is not always the best idea. Correctly identifying the HVAC requirements of the area you need heated and cooled is key to efficiency and your comfort. The only way to ensure the ideal size of the system you purchase—large enough to cool your home, but not any larger than you need—is to have your home’s heating and cooling needs evaluated by one of our licensed professionals. We’ve written more about sizing considerations here.

Q: How Much Will It Cost To Replace an HVAC System?

This is often the first question clients have, but there is not one definitive answer. The unit, components, labor, and additional parts and materials needed all contribute to the final cost of replacing an HVAC system. At North East Air Conditioning, Heating,  and Plumbing we only recommend services that are necessary and never over-sell on a job or service, so you can feel confident in your estimate.

Q: How Long Will It Take To Replace The System?

After you receive your estimate, you’ll be ready to move forward with the installation. While most HVAC system replacements can be completed within a day, some more advanced installations could extend the installation into the next day.

North East Air Conditioning, Heating, and Plumbing is here to answer any questions you may have in order to make the best decision for your specific needs.
